Pastor’s Weekly Update

Peace be with you, my brothers and sisters in Christ.

During Lent, the three acts in which Christians most commonly engage is praying, fasting, and charity. These three help us to experience a deeply meaningful spiritual experience during Lent. All three help us to place deeper focus and attention toward God. In prayer, we approach and converse with God. In fasting, we eliminate the worldly and biological distractions that so easily keep us away from God. And charity helps us to see God in the other.

As we continue our Lenten series on the Spiritual Disciplines of the Christian life, the next three Sundays will focus on these three practices. This Sunday, the focus will be on the Spiritual Discipline of Prayer.

And remember. Lent is a time in which we increase, enhance, and intensify the Spiritual Practices in our life. So, take time to read the Bible more, pray more, fast, give more, and remain more quiet.

Due to a UMC conference meeting I will be attending this weekend, I will not be present this Sunday. In my stead, Rev. Nilla Owen will be preaching on the topic of praying. Please welcome her with love and grace.

You can prepare for this upcoming Sunday by reading Psalm 32.
May God bless you richly as you attend the service!
