Peace be with you, my friends.
This upcoming Sunday is Trinity Sunday. It is a Sacred Day in which the Church focuses on the Triune Being of God. Sadly, often times, when we discuss the Triune Being of God, it is done so in purely abstract terms and concepts. We grab a four leaf clover or a cup of water and ice in an attempt to try to “explain” the Trinity in a way that we might understand. While some of these analogies are beneficial to a degree, it is important to remember that we cannot fathom the depths of Gods Being or Character. Thus, any attempt at an explanation will always fall short. Furthermore, it is also important to remember that God is not an abstract concept to know, but a Being to whom we encounter, experience, have fellowship and relationship, and worship. This infers that God is not waiting to be discovered and analyzed like a book, but rather is Active in the creation of which God created.
We see this Activity in Salvation. God “saves” us. Such Salvation, since it is from God, is also grounded in being. Far from being an abstract concept to know or understand, Salvation is a reality of a renewed life in which we live. Or, in other terms, God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, transforms us from a sinner into a saint.
