Pastor’s Weekly Update

Peace be with you, my friends.

This week is “All-Hallow-Tide.” The week encompasses three important liturgical dates for the Church.
On Oct. 31, we celebrate All Hallows Eve. It is a day of preparation, as we prepare ourselves for All Saints Day.
On Nov. 1, we celebrate All Saints Day, where we honor, remember, and focus our attention upon the Saints of the Church and the Martyrs of the Faith.

On Nov. 2, we celebrate All Souls Day, where we honor, remember, and focus our attention upon all the faithfully departed in Christ.
This upcoming Sunday, we will be celebrating all three of those sacred dates in our worship service. There will be a lesson from the life and teaching of St. Augustine of Hippo, a retelling of the Death and Martyrdom of Perpetua and Felicitas, a special ceremony where we honor and remember those loved ones in our lives who have passed away this past year, and a lighting of a candle ceremony where we remember and honor all the faithfully departed in Christ, especially those of whom we knew in this life.

We will also be partaking of the Holy Eucharist as we recognize that, at the Table, the chasm of death is no more. For, at the Table, we share both fellowship with Christ and fellowship with those in the Heavenly Court.

The sermon will be based on Paul’s words to the Corinthians as he tells them to “imitate me.” Come find out what that means as we apply that Biblical principle into our lives.

So come! Join our voices and beings as we worship God with the Angels and the Heavenly Court this upcoming Sunday!

You can prepare for this upcoming Sunday Worship Service,
Nov. 5, 2023, by reading 1 Cor. 4: 14-17.

Please be aware that, due to the sacredness of this day, certain additional liturgical elements in our worship service may cause the service to run a little later than usual. I hope that will not be problematic for you.

As always, if you are unable to attend, you can livestream our service right here at 9am

With compassion, love, and prayer,
Reverend Michael G. Whitcomb-Tavey
