Lay Leader

JoEllen Smith is a member of the Dansville United Methodist Church where she was recently elected their Lay Leader.  Along with being a Certified Lay Speaker with the Genesee Valley District, JoEllen serves as the Lay Member to Annual Conference. She is an active participant on Committees: Recording Secretary for the Church Council, member of Staff Parish Relations Committee, as well as the Lay Leadership Nominations Committee. UMW, Church Missions, and the library also fill up her days. JoEllen has a BS degree in Education/Special Education and is retired from Finger Lakes DDSO where she worked for 30+ years (in the institution along with residential and day habilitation services at all different levels). After retiring she was a volunteer at the Dansville Primary School for 10 years in the First Grade. Her interests include reading of all kinds, sports (that her granddaughter participates in), and she pilots a hot air balloon.
